Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was the Beatles, "Across the Universe," which first appeared on No One's Gonna Change Our World, a charity compilation album featuring a variety of artists that came out in December 1969. The Beatles also released a varied version of it on their final studio release, Let It Be, on May 8, 1970.

NASA transmitted it as a deep space interstellar message toward the star Polaris on Feb. 4, 2008. This was the first time a song had been transmitted intentionally into deep space and was done to commemorate not only the song's 40th anniversary but to celebrate Deep Space Network's 45th anniversary and NASA's 50th anniversary.
