I finished off the week of Power 96 Cool Ones on an up note with the Blues Brothers' cover of "Gimme Some Lovin'" from their album The Blues Brothers: Original Soundtrack Recording, released later as The Blues Brothers: Music from the Soundtrack. Released on June 20, 1980, this soundtrack album topped out as a U.S. Billboard Top 20 hit at No. 18. The Cool One peaked at No. 18. Originally the single was written by Steve and Muff Winwood and Spencer Davis and recorded by the Spencer Davis Group and released as a single in 1966. Their version was a big hit for them as it went to No. 7 on the U.S. charts and No. 2 on the UK charts and has been used in several films over the years including Hamburger Hill, Iron Eagle, Wild Hogs, Brian's Song, Good Morning Vietnam, Days of Thunder and more.

Please don't miss the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts on Seventh Street in Faribault, this afternoon at 4:35PM on Power 96.
