On Wednesday I dug up a deep track from The Doobie Brothers for the Power 96 Cool One. Back in 1975 they released their fifth studio album, Stampede, which was also was the final record to feature lead vocalist Tom Johnston. He would be replaced by Michael McDonald on their following album, 1976's Takin' It to the Streets. The track I selected as the Cool One was "I Cheat the Hangman," which made it to No. 60 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 while the album peaked at No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200. There were two other singles released from the album, "Sweet Maxine," which went to No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me)," which was the highest charting single from the record and topped out at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Join me this afternoon, at 4:35PM, for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault.
