Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One was The Pretenders "My Baby" from their 1986 album Get Close. Written by Chrissy Hynde, this single only made it to No. 64 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 but spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "Don't Get Me Wrong" was the other strong performing single from the album also topping out at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album itself made it to No. 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

As the lead singer for The Pretenders, Chrissy Hynde, is the only original member of the band. The band itself has gone through a variety of line-up changes over the course of it's history especially after the drug-related deaths of lead guitarist, James Honeyman-Scott and bass player, Pete Farndon (who had been let go by the band prior to his death).

Make sure you're listening at 4:35PM today for the next Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts in Faribault. Today's choice is a little Crazee, don't miss it.
