I took a couple of days off last week to spend time with my grandchildren and didn't get a chance to recap the Cool Ones, so here's a brief rundown of last week's picks.

On Wednesday I chose Toto's "I'll Supply the Love" from their 1978 debut release. This song went to No. 45 on the U.S. Hot 100.

Thursday's Power 96 Cool One came from Europe, the band not the continent, off their March 2, 2015, War of Kings album. This album shows how much Europe has matured and gelled as a band since their self-titled 1983 release. I almost chose the first single, the title track, but went with "Days of Rock 'n' Roll" instead. It's their second single off the album, which came out about a month and a half ago on March 16.

I picked Whitesnake's "Burn" for Friday's Cool One from their forthcoming The Purple Album. This album, due out the 19th of this month, is filled with Mark III and Mark IV era Deep Purple tracks, when David Coverdale was their lead singer.

Listen for today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts, at 4:35 when I play a deep track from a band that's been referred to as the "American Beatles" in the Japanese press.
