Yesterday's Power 96 Cool One came from Twisted Sister's second studio album, You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll, released on June 27, 1983. Yesterday's track, "The Kids Are Back," was written and composed by lead vocalist Dee Snider and failed to chart in the U.S., along with the other two singles from the album, "I Am (I'm Me)" and the title track, although they did OK in the UK and Ireland. Meanwhile the album was certified gold.

Tragedy struck the band earlier this year when their drummer, AJ Pero, passed away from an apparent heart attack on March 20 while traveling with one of his side project bands, Adrenaline Mob. Shortly after that, Twisted Sister announced that they will be kicking off their last tour next year called "Forty and F@#K It," with former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, an accomplished artist in his own right.

Listen for today's Power 96 Cool One, brought to you by Kelly's Auto Parts, at 4:35PM. Today's band is considered one of the earliest groups that were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, although the tune I chose is a little more laid back than their usual fare.
