The official start of spring is not until March 21, but a few days of warm weather and sunshine have many people in spring mode already, and for many people, that means spring cleaning. If you have items you are unsure what to do with, or what the proper way to dispose of is, check out these tips.

Rice County Solid Waste Facility can be an excellent resource as you begin decluttering and cleaning your home this spring. Items like old TVs, computers, and other electronic items require proper disposal and can be taken to the Solid Waste Facility for a small amount. Fees vary for appliances including are conditioners and fridges, but they too can be taken to Rice County Solid Waste. In an effort to help minimalism water and soil contamination, Rice County Solid Waste accepts paint, stain, and varnish, as well as batteries. If you have questions on other items, call Rice County Solid Waste Facility at (507) 332-6833. Beginning April until October, the hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 3:30PM and the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 7:30-11:30AM.
