Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A recent traffic wreck near Claremont has claimed another life.

The Minnesota State Patrol report on the Sept 7 wreck shows 43-year-old Rachel Harberts of Dodge Center has died. Her 8-year-old daughter Emerson died at the scene of the wreck while her 12-year-old son Jaxon suffered life-threatening injuries.

Their car was rear-ended by a Hummer driven by a Dodge Center man with a history of driving offenses, including one when an officer saw him either texting or looking at his cellphone. That was in 2014 while 24-year-old Tanner Kruckeberg was driving on Highway 52 near the 19th St bridge in NW Rochester. He also has eight speeding convictions on his record, dating back to when he was 16. Three involved speeds of over 80-miles-per-hour, including one ticket for driving 89-miles-per-hour. Three of the speeding tickets were also issued before he turned 17. Kruckeberg was also given four tickets for driving after his license was suspended. As of Friday, he had not been charged in the fatal wreck.

Here is a message that was posted early Saturday on the CaringBridge site for Rachel Harberts:

Today around 5:45 am Rachel passed away. She went very peacefully surrounded by her family which she has been for the past few days. Last night Jodi played music for Rachel and Mom and Dad spent all night in Rachel’s room. Like everyone I don’t know what else to say. The love and support for our family has been the biggest part in getting us through this difficult time. Thank you all so much for that. Now is the time to start remembering all the things we loved about Rachel and Emerson and move forward trying to honor their memory. We are all so thankful for Jaxon’s survival and continued progress toward a full recovery. Hug somebody a little tighter today for Rachel and Emerson.

With great appreciation and love to all
The Harberts and Post Families.
