Relay For Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society raising thousands of dollars at each event.

In Steele County, Relay For Life will be at the fairgrounds in Owatonna beginning Friday, July 15, with the opening ceremonies at 6PM and the Luminary program and lighting of the bags beginning at 9:30PM. The closing ceremony will be at 5:30AM on Saturday, July 16.

Some other activities are also planned in July to raise money for Relay for Life in Steele County. United Prairie Bank in Owatonna will have a Bank Night on Thursday, July 7, from 4-7PM. This will be the time for teams to turn in your fundraising money, pick up t-shirts and hear the final details about the Relay night.

Later on Saturday the 16th, the Relay for Life committee have planned the Daikin Dash For Cancer 5K beginning at 8AM also at the fairgrounds in Owatonna. The cost is $30 to sign up. Register at relayforlife5K.com.

Another event planned is Chains For A Cause, which is a disc golf tournament. It will be taking place on Sunday, July 17, in Morristown at Maiden Shade Disc Golf Course. The cost is $25.

The Waseca County Relay For Life will be on Saturday, July 23, from 2PM until midnight at the Waseca County Water Park, 200 26th Ave. N.E. According to their website, 16 teams and 117 participants have raised more than $5,900.

In Dodge County, Relay For Life will be in early August on Friday the 5th, beginning at 6PM and into Saturday the 6th, taking place at the Dodge County Fairgrounds, 100 11th St. N.E. According to their website, 35 teams and 196 participants have signed up and have raised $29,167.30.

Relay For Life in Rice County also taking place Friday, Aug. 5, from 6PM until Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Rice County Fairgrounds, 1814 Second Ave. N.W. in Faribault. According to their website, 13 teams and 116 participants have raised $16,454.25.
