Researchers Might Have Discovered the Cure for Cancer
We've all been affected in one way or another by cancer. Whether you've lost a loved one or know someone who is currently battling the disease you're invited to join us for the Olmsted County Relay on June 15th. Together we'll raise money to fund important research being conducted by the American Cancer Society.
Researchers at Stanford have potentially cracked the code. Fox 2 says the team of researchers has found a way to clear cancer in mice with immune-system stimulating injections. You can read the full report which was published in the Science Translational Medicine Journal, here. The results show 87 of 90 mice were cured of cancer. "Although cancer recurred in three of the mice, the tumors again regressed after a second treatment." At this point, the testing has focused on lymphoma, breast cancer, colon cancer and melanoma tumors but researchers believe this treatment might work on all cancers.
A clinical trial on humans is the next step.
