John Dvorak, executive secretary of the Rice County Fair, stops by the KDHL studio today to update us on what's happening at this July's event.

There are some events that need our attention before they can happen during the fair.

For example, the Outstanding Senior Citizens award deadline for nominations is coming up and Dvorak will give us details. The Rice County Fair also is requesting contestants for the Queen contest

Last week, the University of Minnesota Extension Service announced this year's Rice County Farm Family of the Year is the Nathan and Shannon Kuball family of Waterville.

The Kuballs will be honored during the Best of the Best Ceremony at this year's fair.

The official statewide presentation of the 2016 Farm Family Recognition Program takes place on Thursday, August 4, at Farmfest.

The Kuballs and their kids Kelsey, Emma and Keegan manage the day-to-day operations of the farm. The Kuballs presently have 210 milking cows and 950 acres of land, used to raise corn, soybeans and alfalfa. They have seven employees and seasonal help.

Tune in and find out more at 9:30AM, or go to our YouTube channel at your convenience.
