It's hard to believe the Rice County Relay for Life is 25 years old, but that is the case.

This Friday the 25th relay to fight cancer takes place on the Rice County Fairgrounds and KDHL/POWER 96 Radio is proud to say we've been a part of a majority of them.

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be on the Fairgrounds from 4-10PM and with an urgent call for blood it would be great to keep them busy the entire time.

We would love to see cancer survivors turn out for the cake and coffee reception in the Beer Garden from 5-6PM.

Opening ceremony is 6PM with Sarah Beth Stadler singing our national anthem.

This year there are four honorary chairs of the event and two of them will speak at the opening ceremony and two will speak during the Luminary Lighting Service.

During the opening ceremony we will hear from Beckie VonRuden and John Milewski and Brian Homeier and Jan Balata will share their story of cancer survival during the Luminary lighting at 8:30PM.

One of my favorite times is the Survivor Lap, and that takes place 6:30PM.

We will once again have some excellent local entertainment with Marcus Padilla on the KDHL/POWER 96 Stage from 6:30-7:30PM and Mark Hedenstrom providing the music from 7:30-8:30PM.

There is always a terrific silent auction, and this year is no exception.

Over the years I've called the Relay for Life a love fest. We want to show those who have battled cancer we love them and raise money to provide research and take down cancer.

I hope to see you at the Rice County Fairgrounds on Friday to help us with that mission of love and hope.
