Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn told us while he was a guest on the KDHL AM Minnesota program Monday morning he might have to add lakes to his no-wake zone.

After the program, he was headed to see lake level measurements and did decide to add Roberds Lake to the temporary emergency no-wake zone. Other lakes announced Friday were Cannon, Wells, Circle and Shields.

Dunn said each of the lakes would have the order posted at the Public Accesses. A reminder that the no-wake zone is for the entire body of water.

"Slow-no wake" means operation of a watercraft at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage, but in no case greater than 5 mph. The sheriff says violators may be cited.

Dunn is also reminding citizens to be very cautious about tubing, canoeing or kayaking on rivers throughout the county. The water levels are high and the water is moving very fast. The sheriff says, "There are additional hazards and debris in the river and this can be very dangerous. We would not recommend these activities at this time."

The emergency no-wake zone will be in effect until Dunn lifts it.
