Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn says a motorcycle accident resulting in injuries is a reminder everyone should wear their helmet.

The call came in at 8:08PM Wednesday and Rice County deputies, Faribault Fire and Northfield Ambulance were all dispatched to Elmore Avenue and 150th Street West in Wells Township.

Upon arrival, Dunn says emergency personnel located two individuals. The driver was identified as Samuel D. Huston, 44, of Farmington, and the passenger was identified as Tracey L. Culbert, 48, of Burnsville.

Culbert was transported by ambulance to Allina Hospital in Faribault and was later airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center with head and possible back injuries. The sheriff says neither was wearing a helmet.

Upon investigation, it was learned Huston was going west on 150th Street West and headed into a curve onto Elmore Avenue when he lost control of the motorcycle and "laid it down." The cycle ended up in the ditch.

Dunn says upon completion of the investigation, Huston was arrested for DWI and criminal vehicular operation.

He was treated at Allina Hospital in Faribault for non-life-threatening injuries and released. He is in the Rice County Jail pending the filing of charges.

Dunn told KDHL the accident brings up a couple of reminders. One -- people need to "Wear a helmet," and two -- "don't drink and operate any vehicle."
