The Rice County Sheriff's Office would like to remind all people using the lakes for recreation, including ice fishing, to use extreme caution on the ice.  Chief Deputy Dave Stensrud told KDHL News ice is measuring between 3 to 6 inches and ice thickness can be very inconsistent and unstable.  The Sheriff's Office has received reports of open water on Mazaska and French Lakes and warmer weather is forecast for this weekend.  Chief Deputy Stensrud Told KDHL caution needs to be excercised on all area lakes and says no ATV's or snowmobiles are recommended and obviously no cars or trucks and even walking could be an adventure with 50 degree temperatures forecast adding to the deteriorating of the ice.  The interview with the Chief Deputy can be heard on KDHL during the Midday Report at 12:10pm and the 5:05pm report today, also at 7:05 and 8:05 Thursday morning.
