Rochester police have released some additional information concerning a robbery last night that left a 23-year-old man with serious injuries. Captain John Sherwin says the injuries suffered by the young man were far more serious than originally thought and he required emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. At last report, he was listed in critical but stable condition at St. Mary’s Hospital.

The man was working alone at the GameStop store near Target North in northwest Rochester when two men enter the business around 9 PM and one of them struck him on the head with a hammer. Captain Sherwin says he was unconscious for approximately 5 minutes before he came to and found himself covered with blood.

The two robbers were still in the store when he regained consciousness and he ran to a nearby store to seek help. Before police arrived at the scene, the robbers left the store with some stolen video games valued at about $1000. The robbers were described as possible Hispanics in their early 20s. Both were about 5 foot 10 and skinny. One was wearing a ski mask.

The police department has released some images captured by security cameras in the store. While the quality of the images is lacking, it’s hoped their release will help investigators identify the 2 men. If you recognize the robbers or have information useful to investigators, you’re asked to contact the Police Department through the Crimestoppers tip line at 1-800-222-TIPS.
