For the fourth year in a row, I traveled with KDHL Farm Director Jerry Groskruetz to the National FFA Convention. This was my fourth time attending for work, my first time being in Indianapolis, Indiana. The previous three times I attended, the convention was held in Louisville, Kentucky. The students are there to compete, partake in the national band or choir, learn more about agriculture, and get fired up from the speakers, but when they get a break, there are more opportunities for FFA members to explore!
Election day, Tuesday, November 8, is quickly approaching! I'm not going to try to sway your vote in any one direction, that's a decision only you can make, but I do want to remind you to know where your polling place is so that you are ready to cast your ballot.
I love apples all year round, but during autumn, they are especially wonderful. Fall is now here, and for many people, that includes getting outside and enjoying the weather as much as possible, and possibly making seasonal treats as well. Earlier I created a list of corn mazes in the area, and I thought it would be fun to also create a list of pick your own apple orchards in the area!
Each week I’ll share picture and a little bit about a pet that is available for adoption and waiting to find a good home. If you’re thinking of adding a pet to your home, pet adoption can be a very rewarding way to do so.
The National FFA Convention is officially upon us! I will be traveling with KDHL Farm Director Jerry Groskruetz to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the national convention to meet up with area students and learn about their involvement in the FFA as well as their experience at the Expo, and you'll be able to hear all of the reports on KDHL Radio!
The season of pumpkin spice-flavored coffee, candles, bath products, and every other thing you can think of is officially upon us. I love pumpkin spice as much as the next person, but each fall, I also enjoy another pumpkin treat, toasted pumpkin seeds.
I've had the Loverboy song "Working for the Weekend" in my head throughout the day as we draw closer to the weekend. Despite the threat of a few rain showers on Saturday, overall, the forecast is looking warm and like an ideal time to enjoy all that fall has to offer. If you're looking for some weekend inspiration, I've rounded up a few of the things going on in our area this weekend!
What do you do when your television set or computer keyboard goes bad? You replace them, of course. But what do you do with the old electronics? Items like that can not be placed in your regular trash, and should instead by recycled properly. If you have electronic items causing clutter in your home, mark your calendar with these three upcoming Rice County Electronic Recycling Days.
