At least Mother Nature waited until after the state basketball tournaments to let loose with the snow. Here's a few totals from around southern Minnesota.

Zumbrota looks like the winner with 12.3 inches.

Lakeville had a report of 9.8 inches, with Farmington checking in at 8 inches. A trained spotter in Owatonna reports 7.5 inches, and to give you an idea of the storm's track, Mankato registered just 2.5 inches.

North-south roads were particularly tricky thanks to the wind causing quite a bit of drifting. And to think that on Saturday I was debating whether to plant potatoes on Sunday.

The forecast mentions we may get a bit of a rain-snow mix late Tuesday into Tuesday night. Accumulations have been updated to probably less than half an inch.

The moisture is needed. I have a large hole on my property, and when the frost goes out, it usually fills with water and some years it even goes over the banks. This spring was the first in a while that it was dry as a bone.
