With a busy day to day schedule, I don't get out to the River Bend Nature Center in Faribault as often as I would like, but every time I go there, I am always happy I took the time to visit this gem. Faribault, and the surrounding area is so lucky to have such a wonderful space so close. This weekend, I had the opportunity to spend some time viewing the nature center after a fresh snowfall and I am happy I said yes.

I have yet to find a season in which the River Bend Nature Center is not a delightful place to spend a day. I often visit the River Bend Nature Center in the spring, summer and fall, but being averse to the cold, I don't make it there as often as I should during the winter. After the recent snowfall, a friend asked if I'd like to spend some time over the weekend snowshoeing. I have gone snowshoeing in the past, but I don't own any, luckily, the River Bend Nature Center has them available to rent. We spent a few hours out on the trails, enjoying the sunshine, snow covered branches, and spotted a handful of deer. There were several other people spending the gorgeous afternoon at the River Bend as well, snowshoeing and cross country skiing, and I even ran into a co-worker on the trails! It was such a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, and I look forward to going again. Maybe next time I'll have to rent the cross county skis!
