This Friday the latest installment in the highly anticipated Star Wars series arrives in theaters: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Star Wars fans, young and old alike, have been waiting for this sequel since filming began in Abu Dhabi and Iceland back in April 2014. It's also been 10 years since the franchise's last installment was released: Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

I know that I'm really excited to see what is basically the continuation of the original trilogy of movies released in 1977, 1980 and 1983. I can't wait to see some of the original cast reprising their roles in this sequel set about 30 years after Return of the Jedi. Harrison Ford returns as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher is back, but now instead of answering to Princess Leia she's referred to as General Leia Organa, Mark Hamill revisits his role as Luke Skywalker, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Kenny Baker's back as R2-D2, Peter Mayhew dons his furry suit as Chewbacca and Tim Rose returns as Admiral Ackbar. Plus there's a whole slew of new characters both good, bad and conflicted, with new heroes to root for and villains to boo. And of course, they introduce a new robot, BB-8, which I'm sure will be amusing and probably is on plenty of children's Christmas lists this year.

My wife and I want to see it this weekend, and I'm hoping that this movie recaptures the shoot 'em up, space cowboy, knights in shining armor-esque feel of the original movies with a little comedy thrown in to keep it light.
