Two teams are tied for first and four teams are within seven strokes of each other in the MSHSL girls Class A State Golf Tournament in Becker after the opening day.

It was warm, but nobody was complaining. Minneota and Legacy Christian Academy are tied in the lead with 346 and Fillmore Central is just four strokes back heading into Wednesday's final round.

Individually, sophomore Kiera Smith of Heritage Christian Academy carded a 76 and has a three-stroke lead for medalist honors. Sophomore Taylor Christianson of Blooming Prairie is tied for 12th place with an opening day 86.

In Class AA, Detroit Lakes hangs on to a seven-stroke lead over Red Wing after the first day of competition, sporting a 312. Albert Lea is in eighth place at Sands at Pebble Creek in Jordan.

Individually, senior Jenna Janu of Minnewaska and junior Kate Smith of Detroit Lakes have a share of the lead after an impressive round of 68. Lake CIty sophomore Lexi Geolat is tied for fifth with a 76. Waseca junior Sydney O'Brien is tied in 65th place with a 94 and Le Seueur-Henderson senior Kelsey Anderson carded a 97.

In Class AAA, Edina has a 12-stroke lead over Buffalo and Section 1 representative Winona is 31 shots back at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids.

Individually, Edina junior Hannah Hankinson had a 72 and clings to a one-stroke lead over New Prague junior Taylor Ledwein. Lakeville North junior Brianna Vetter is in fourth place with an opening day of 75. Owatonna senior Maddie Peglow tallied a 90 and Northfield senior Laine Fischer a 92.
