The Steele County Clothesline has seen an increase in the number of families who are in need of their services. They served over 1500 households in Steele County in the past year, 1,613 of those served are children under the age of 17. Executive Director Maureen Schlobohm was a guest on AM 1390's Talk of The Town, and she said: "we can't quite put our finger on why, but enrollment continues to grow."

When enrollment continues to grow, so does the need to secure donations for the needs of the families served. The Clothesline will provide families with needed clothing, bedding, and small household items. The clients can choose what they need, they have an allotted amount of money they can spend there monthly.

At this time the Clothesline is in need of bedding, especially blankets. They cannot keep the bedding section of the store fully stocked. They are also still in need of Winter coats and Winter clothing, especially for children. They accept donations at their back door, any time the store is open. Maureen also said that there are some people who come into the store and look around to see what is needed, then come back with donations. The Clothesline is open to the public, and you can find some great deals, with the money spent going back to the Clothesline to help out more families in Steele County.

They do ask that any clothing donations be in season and be clean and in good repair. Bedding should also be clean and in good condition. So, if you are cleaning out closets and drawers, consider donating your unneeded items to the Steele County Clothesline. You can also follow them on Facebook, the link is here.

You can also get information about their 3rd Annual Come Fly With Me fundraising event, taking place on Saturday, January 26th, at the Elk's Lodge in Owatonna. You can purchase your tickets to that event online, or by stopping into the Clothesline.
