Steven Tyler Announces Solo Concerts

In what seems likely to serve as the warm-up for a larger tour, Steven Tyler has scheduled a pair of solo dates for early next year.

The shows, set to take place at the Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls on March 29 and 31, will see Tyler performing with Loving Mary, a six-piece Nashville band comprised of professional songwriters including Marti Frederiksen, who's collaborated frequently with the members of Aerosmith on albums dating back to 1997's Nine Lives.

According to the announcement, fans can expect to see Tyler perform a blend of Aerosmith and solo material, with the band hits "Dream On," "Janie’s Got a Gun" and "Jaded" name-checked alongside his recent single "Love Is Your Name."

As previously reported, Tyler's solo ambitions will apparently keep Aerosmith off the road in 2016 — something that guitarist Brad Whitford admits has left the rest of the band feeling "a little bit abandoned." "I guess he seems to think his solo career is going to go great guns," suggested Whitford. "He doesn’t seem to realize that – in my opinion – his fans around the globe want to see him in the context of Aerosmith and don’t really care for whatever he thinks he’s gonna do."

While Tyler busies himself with his pending solo LP, which is expected sometime next year, Whitford has rekindled his partnership with Ted Nugent singer/guitarist Derek St. Holmes, with plans for a new album and tour, while guitarist Joe Perry recently revealed that he's working on an instrumental solo album.

Tickets for Tyler's Niagara Falls dates are scheduled to go on sale Dec. 4, and will be available through the Fallsview Casino Resort website.
