It may only be mid-August, but those who love curling, are already looking forward to the next season. The season will start the first week of November, but, it's never too early to be dreaming of sweeping the stones to the house, and possibly making it all the way to the Olympics! Just look at John Landsteiner, part of Team Schuster, well Team USA, who is originally from Mapleton, home of the Heather Curling Club, the oldest established curling club in Southern MN. John Landsteiner even stopped by the Owatonna curling club last year on his way to the Olympic Games.

Now, if you have been interested in the Olympic sport of Curling? Do you want to understand what are they doing with those 'brooms'? And how does that help get the 'stone' to the 'house'? The Owatonna Curling Club has both youth and adult leagues.

The best part of all, the youth program is $25 for the season, and the only equipment required is a clean pair of shoes, warm clothing, and a positive attitude. Practices are weekdays, Monday through Fridays from 3 pm to 5 pm, and ride arrangements can be made from the school to the club.  People are welcome to join the club at any time during the season, you don't have to sign up for the beginning of November. They are located at the Steele County Fairgrounds just North of the Four Seasons building. Please call Jeremiah Kasten (certified Coach with the United States Curling Association) with questions, 507-210-8005.

We're excited for the season to start, can you tell? Come check out the sport and good curling!
