Sometimes you are out driving through the great state of Minnesota, or maybe other states, and you go through a town that looks like it was once a thriving, busy town. But now it's all but a ghost town. People my still live there, but they have to go other places to get their shopping done because everyone has left.

I know there is a big attraction to the "Big Box Stores," but when you need to resolve something after the sale, they are not always going to be there for you. Sure maybe you get a better price because of the buying volume, but you don't get the service. The people in the downtowns are our friends and neighbors, trying to make a living too.

This weekend presents lots of opportunities to get crazy and save money and shop and eat local as both Faribault and Northfield are having Crazy Days celebrations. Visit Faribault Mainstreet or the Northfield Chamber to learn more about them.
