The whitewashing controversy surrounding Ghost in the Shell may keep it from becoming 2017’s big box office hit, despite how faithfully the filmmakers have recreated some of the most visually-arresting scenes from the 1995 original. It’s a bummer that Motoko Kusanagi is now Mara Killian because the movie looks absolutely gorgeous, as evidenced in this new clip, which takes its cues directly from an iconic scene in the original.

In the scene, Major is hot on the trail of the elusive Puppet Master, attempting to take down a target involved in a scheme of “ghost-hacking.” The taking down part involves beating this guy up in a puddle of water, which, normally, would make for a cool enough fight scene. But the reason it’s so iconic is because Major is invisible for most of the time, punching and kicking this hapless dude who has no idea where she is.

Some of the shots in this clip are taken right from the anime. Take a look and compare:

In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others. Based on the internationally acclaimed Japanese Manga, “The Ghost in the Shell.”

Ghost in the Shell hits theaters March 31.
