Last year at about this time, I hopped on a plane and headed to Louisville, KY for the 86th Annual FFA Convention! We spent our time interviewing local FFA students and sending reports back to KDHL. Next week, we make that same journey, so I thought it would be a fun timeto look back!

We flew out at a time that I find to be unacceptably early, (those who know me, know that I am a night owl) so getting up at 4am was not my idea of a good time. The airport coffee shop became my best friend that morning. We arrived, grabbed our media passes and were set up and ready to see local student by about 1pm. I had never been in FFA, and I had been told that the Annual Convention would be a big crowd, but I was in no way expecting to see so many kids in one spot! It was a sea of blue jackets!  The students had speeches to attend, colleges options to explore, and a huge expo showcasing every possible agricultural company. We were pretty busy, so I didn't get much of a chance to explore, but in the little bit I did see, there were some awesome set ups! One had an ag cab lab, another was doing science experiments, and then there was a line about two blocks long for one booth. I had to know what the wait was for. Turns out, one of the companies had brought in Mountain Man from the show Duck Dynasty, and he was taking pictures and giving autographs! I didn't wait in line, but I did manage to snag a picture for our listeners!

Now that I know what to expect, I'm excited to go back and see all of the excitement at the National FFA Convention! Make sure you're listening to KDHL (which can also be found online at KDHLradio.com, and on your smart phone with the radio pup app) for updates from the convention and interviews with area students. Plus, "Like" KDHL on facebook too and you might even see a few pictures of all the action!
