Seniors get the red carpet treatment on Thursday at the Steele County Fair in Owatonna, with special senior citizen day events and deals.

Those 65 and older get free parking from 8AM to noon. The Golden Tones from SeniorPlace perform at 10:45AM on the UPB stage at Fair Square Park. The senior citizens of the year will be honored at 11:30AM on the stage. Music will include Ray Sands and the Polka Dots at 12PM and 2:30PM, the Grace Notes at 1:15PM and 3:45PM and Tami and the Bachelor at 5PM.

The Alley Katz band plays on the KRFO stage at noon. Many vendors will offer special discounts to seniors.

Entertainment at the Village of Yesteryear stage includes Bill Koncar on the accordion at 1PM, the Tri W's at 2PM, the Alley Katz band at 3PM, SeniorPlace Golden Tones at 4PM and Ray Bissen at 6PM.

Electric scooter and wheel chair rentals are available. From 9-11AM, Med City Rental will be at the First Aid station near the Elm Street entrance to the fairgrounds. After 11AM, find their booth in the east Four Seasons Centre.

Bill's bus rides continue Thursday and Friday with free rides to the fairgrounds from downtown Owatonna and the industrial park. Watermelon seed spitting at the KRFO stage will occur in the morning due to a matinee game for the Minnesota Twins. Thursdays are law enforcement day at seed spitting and usually results in a friendly rivalry between the police and sheriff's departments.

Hairball is the grandstand show for Thursday at 7:30PM. Tickets are $20 and $10 for preteens.
