This morning I had the pleasure of interviewing Faribault girls’ tennis coach Darren Iverson, who will be making a run at breaking the Guinness World Record for consecutive singles matches played. This feat will be attempted starting this Friday morning at 6AM and continuing through the weekend until sometime on Sunday. Iverson said that he has plenty of opponents lined up for the continuous matches but he could use several more witnesses to help make his record-breaking attempt official. The witnesses are needed for one-hour to four-hour increments, cannot be a member of his family or friends or have a vested stake in success in this event and must sign official Guinness World Record paperwork stating that they witnessed this feat. If you would like to be a part of this momentous occasion as a witness, please contact Iverson at falconstennis@gmail.com.

This event has been built around a “Tennis Block Party” for all ages at the Faribault High School this Saturday from 10AM to 1PM. There will be games, food and prizes, and you can try your hand at tennis with a free lesson. This event is being held to help raise money for upgrades and equipment and to highlight involvement in summer tennis playing for new and seasoned players.

If you can't make it to the block party but would like to help the Faribault High School's tennis program, go online to www.gofundme.com and search for "Faribault Tennis."
