Jim Hagedorn of Blue Earth is the endorsed Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota's first congressional district. He is scheduled to join us on AM Minnesota at 9:30AM.

If you can't listen then, go to www.youtube.com/user/KDHLRadio and be an informed voter when you enter the voting booth.

His challenge of current Congressman Tim Walz is a repeat attempt.

In 2014, Hagedorn received 45.7 percent of votes cast or 103,536 votes. Walz was re-elected with a vote total of 122,851 or 54.2 percent of votes cast.

Hagedorn defeated Steve Williams in the Republican primary in August, 10,851 to 3,330 or 76.5 percent to 23.5 percent.

On his website, Hagedorn outlines some of his top priorities in no particular order.

  • Economy: In short, it is not government's role to create jobs. The government's role is to create an environment in which individuals can work, save and create a better life for themselves which, in turn, creates a robust economy.
  • Agriculture: There are hundreds of small cities and towns in the District which are wholly dependent on agriculture for their economic well-being and survival. Jim believes in policies that will allow farmers to continue to grow and innovate and opposes legislation which continues to increase the regulatory, tax and energy burdens being placed on them.
  • National Defense: The primary role given to the federal government by the Constitution is to defend the United States from its enemies. Jim believes in the Reagan principle of "trust but verify" and "peace through strength which will allow us to project strength and deter aggression while supporting our allies throughout the world."

If you have a question for the candidate, please text it to (507) 838-5233 and we will ask the inquiry if it's issue oriented. We want to stick to the issues.
