At 2:45PM Sunday, October 16, the Blue Earth County communications center received a call that they recognized as Waseca Sheriff Brad Milbrath saying he was involved in a farming accident northeast of Janesville.

Deputies and emergency personnel from the Janesville Fire Department and North Ambulance as well as North Air Care responded and found him in a field near some equipment. Apparently while attempting to dislodge corn that had gotten stuck, Milbrath's hand was caught in the farm equipment rollers. He was able to free his hand and get to his phone in the tractor cab to make the call for assistance. He sustained a serious injury to his right hand as well as some abrasions on his left arm and stomach. He was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, taken into surgery and was to have more surgery Tuesday.

Chief Deputy Trevor Kanewisher said in a statement that they continue to stay in contact with Milbrath, as he is very dedicated to providing the best service and protection to the area. He also asked for prayers for Milbrath and for the family.
