The son of one of two people found dead in Shakopee was a suspect; he was found dead in a Waseca home after a standoff with police.

Police say the victims, 68-year-old Terry Weimer and 67-year-old Renee Ahrens died from apparent blunt force trauma in their home on Dakota Street South in Shakopee earlier today.

The suspect was Weimer's son, who had lived with the couple previously but was most recently living in Waseca. After police found him in Waseca, he barricaded himself inside his home. After a stand-off, he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound'

The couple was found in a utility room and no forced entry was detected.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is helping the Shakopee police with the investigation and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner is also investigating the cause and manner of death.
