The Trans-Siberian Orchestra wrapped up their winter tour yesterday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul with shows at 3PM and 7:30PM. I was lucky to enjoy being a part of the crowd at the 3PM show, which this year was titled "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve." This year's story followed a young runaway girl that takes refuge in an old theater filled with the ghosts of past Christmas memories. At the end of the story the kindly caretaker, who has been guiding her through all these visions of the past, helps her find her way home. This is pretty much the common theme of each of their shows, lost soul finds their way home on Christmas, which has worked well for them in their previous tours and they always pull it off with great music, performers and an enthralling light, fire and video show. To say I thoroughly enjoyed the show would be an understatement and despite being more than two hours long, it ended all too quickly. If you've never seen them before, I suggest you take in next year's show, but as my wife advises bring ear plugs and sunglasses.
