Right now most of Buck Hill in Burnsville is green and lush and far from being ready for skiing. Right now the big activity is mountain biking. But come September, even if the temperatures are still in the 70s and 80s, you will be able to break out your skis.

According to the Star Tribune on Sunday, construction has begun on a new synthetic ski slope. It's like a carpet. It's called Neveplast. You can use your regular skis and snowboards.

Buck Hill came under new ownership last fall, and dry slope skiing is among the additions the new owners want.

You can see all the details on this exciting news at buckhill.com. If you don't have skis or snowboards, you can rent them there. Fall hours are 3-9PM weekdays and 10AM to 8PM weekends.

Buck Hill opened in 1954. It has 16 runs and 10 lifts and attracts about 170,00 people each winter. Olympic athlete Lindsey Vonn once trained there.
