Watch Steven Tyler and Jeff Beck Perform ‘Train Kept A-Rollin’

Steven Tyler and Jeff Beck got together last year and performed a rock ‘n’ roll classic associated with both of them: “Train Kept A-Rollin’.”

Beck recorded a psychedelic version of the 1951 Tiny Bradshaw original in 1965 while he was a member of the Yardbirds; Tyler and Aerosmith had been playing it live on a regular basis by the time they recorded their own cover in 1974.

Beck and Tyler’s live version — which you can watch above — will appear on Beck’s Live at the Hollywood Bowl, due on Oct. 6. “It sure was a great night for me,” the guitarist told Rolling Stone. “Fantastic venue with a long musical history, a song that runs through my veins and a singer who has sung it for over 40 years. I am blessed.”

The album includes classics from throughout the guitarist’s career, including his most recent album, Loud HailerLive at the Hollywood Bowl is available for pre-order as a double CD with either Blu-ray or DVD .

“In the summer of 2016, Jeff celebrated 50 years of his musical career with a special concert at the famous Hollywood Bowl,” a PledgeMusic campaign noted. “The set list reached back to his first recordings with the Yardbirds in 1966 and came right up to date with tracks from Loud Hailer. As the evening progressed, he was joined by many of the great musicians he has collaborated with over the years, including Billy Gibbons, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Hall, Jan Hammer, Beth Hart and Steven Tyler. The show climaxed with the guests all joining forces for an exhilarating encore performance of ‘Purple Rain’ in tribute to Prince, who had passed away a couple of months before the concert.”

Earlier this week, Aerosmith canceled a handful of shows after Tyler fell ill. The singer returned home from South Africa following what sources claim was a seizure. “I am not in a life-threatening condition, but I need to deal with this right away and get some rest and medical care immediately,” Tyler said.
