For the 69th consecutive year, KDHL Radio 920 AM is providing baseline to baseline coverage of the MSHSL Boys State High School Basketball Tournament.

Since the 2001 state tournament, KDHL has also provided internet coverage worldwide at www.kdhlradio.com. People may also download the free RadioPup app and listen on their favorite mobile devices.

Roy Koenig will be at Williams Arena on Wednesday and Thursday and I will be at the Target Center.

Wednesday the broadcast schedule looks like this:

At 10AM, No. 1 ranked and No. 1 seed Minneapolis DeLaSalle begins their dream of winning their sixth straight state Class 3A title to continue writing the record books. They will play Big Lake at Williams Arena.

The Islanders are loaded with talent again, with their three losses coming to Class 4A ranked opponents, and they have wins over top-ranked schools from other states.

DeLaSalle averages 77 points a game and allows just under 57. They shoot 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range, with 149 three-point baskets made.

Sharing the ball has always been a constant with Coach Dave Thorson's teams. The Islanders average 20 assists per game and just 12 turnovers.

Goanar Mar, a 6-foot-7 senior, is a Mr. Basketball finalist and averages about 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks per game. Thorson says he can guard any position on the floor and has committed to George Mason University. Mar has been listed as a top 150 senior recruit. He has 41 three-point baskets and can take defenders off the dribble.

Bage Kalscheur, a 6-foot-4 junior, averages about 17.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He has 44 three-point baskets. Christian Dickson averages 10 points, six rebounds and two assists, with 11 three-point makes so far this season.

Coach Thorson is in his 23rd season and has 524 wins.

The Islanders' opponent is a first-time state tournament qualifier in its 100th year of existence.

The Big Lake Hornets were ranked No. 20 in the final Minnesota Basketball News boys high school basketball ratings in Class 3A.

The Section 5 champs out of the Mississippi 8 Conference are 20-9 and average 66 points and give up an average of 59 points per game.

They've shot 45 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc and are a plus-8 in the rebound department on average per game. The Hornets average 13 turnovers and 14 assists per game.

Austin Miller, a 5-foot-9 senior, leads the team with a 17.5 points per game average and has 56 three-point baskets this season. Miller has set a school record in points in a single season with 507 and counting.

Logan Nagorski, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, averages just under 10 points per game and about 5.5 rebounds with 29 made threes.

Tanner Teige, a 5-foot-8 senior, averages about 10 points per game with three rebounds and about three assists per contest. He is the school's all-time assists leader and will be playing football at St. Cloud State.

At noon Wednesday at Target Center, Lakeville North goes up against Wayzata.

The Panthers received the No. 4 seed and were rated No. 4 in the final MBBN rankings. Wayzata is rated No. 5 and also received the No. 5 seed after knocking off Hopkins in their section final.

The Panthers captured their sixth straight Section 1 title last Friday by defeating Rochester John Marshall for the fifth straight year.

Lakeville North averages 79 points per game while giving up about 57, and their only two losses this season were to Apple Valley. The Panthers are shooting 53 percent from the field and 43 percent from three-point range, with 179 three-point baskets and are a plus-13 in rebounds per game. They also average 20 assists and 13 turnovers per game.

Nathan Reuvers, a 6-foot-10 senior, averages 25.5 points, 12.3 rebounds per game and was held to 12 points with foul trouble in the section title game and the Panthers still had a convincing win. He is a Mr. Basketball finalist and will attend Wisconsin next year to play basketball.

Ethan Igbanugo, a 6-foot-2 senior, averages 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Trevor Schermann, a 6-foot-4 senior, was an All-South Suburban Conference wide receiver in football and provides some physicality to the floor. Tyler Wahl, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, had a toe injury and was still impressive in the section final game. He averages 10 points, six rebounds and just under two assists per game.

The Wayzata Trojans were Lake Conference Champions and set a school record for wins with a 26-3 mark.

They average 74 points and give up 57 per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. The Trojans have 261 three-point baskets going into the tournament, average 20 assists and 13 turnovers per game. Wayzata's team free throw percentage is an outstanding 78 percent.

Gavin Baumbartner, a 6-foot-5 senior, is averaging 15.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and four assists per game and is 16 points away from 1,000 in his career. Ryan Lindberg, a 6-foot-3 senior, averages 14.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game with 73 three-point baskets this season. Drew Galinson, a 6-foot-2 junior, has 57 three-pointers and averages nine points, three rebounds and three assists per game.

It's Wayzata's first trip to state since 1959.

At 2PM at Williams, Roy will have the No. 2 rated and No. 2 seed Austin Packers game against St. Thomas Academy.

The Cadets were ranked eighth in the final Minnesota Basketball News Class 3A top 20 listings.

The Packers finished second to Rochester John Marshall in the Big Nine Conference race, with their only two losses coming against the Rockets.

Austin averages 74 points and gives up 56 per game while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three point range. The Packers come into the state tournament with 274 three-point baskets made and average 20 assists and 10 turnovers a game.

Both Gach, a 6-foot-4 junior, leads the way, averaging 16 points and about four assists a game. He has 47 three-point baskets and is 48 points away from 1,000 for his career. His twin brother, 6-foot-4 junior Duoth Gach, averages just under 16 points a game and has 88 three-point baskets this season.

Austin is a 70 percent free throw shooting team.

St. Thomas Academy is making their first trip to state since 2008.

Last season the Cadets had just nine wins and are 23-6 going into Wednesday's game. They average 75 points and give up 63 while shooting 48 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc. They have 150 three-point baskets and shoot 69 percent from the free throw line.

Jack Thompson, a  5-foot-11 sophomore, is their leading scorer with 14.6 points per game and 37 three-point baskets. Ben Schleper, a 6-foot-2 junior, has 36 three-pointers and averages eight points per game. George Stewart, a 6-foot-5 junior, averages about eight points per contest also.

At 8PM Wednesday, I'll have the Class 2A quarterfinal game between No. 4 seed Annandale and No. 5 seed Jackson County Central.

The Cardinals are 26-4 and were ranked 13th in the final Class 2A ratings while the Huskies are also 26-4 and were rated 15th.

Annandale averages 67 points per game while giving up just 50 and is a 70 percent free throw shooting team. The Cardinals shoot 46 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range with 231 three-point baskets. They are also a plus-7 on the glass while averaging 14 assists and nine turnovers a game.

Jarod Wilkin, a 6-foot-6 senior, averages 19 points per game, seven rebounds and three assists, and has amassed 40 three-point baskets. Nick Bieniek, a 6-foot-3 junior, has 69 three-pointers and averages 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and five assists per game. AJ Hinz, a 6-foot-4 junior, is averaging 13 points and six rebounds while dishing out three assists, and 6-foot-2 junior Trenton Peterson contributes 10 points, three rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Jackson County Central is averaging 78 points and giving up 62 per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range. They have 236 three-pointers made this season with 18 assists and 13 turnovers a game.

Jacob Christopher, a 5-foot-11 senior, leads the Huskies in scoring with 18.5 per game. He has 55 three-point baskets. Ryan Christopher, a 6-foot-3 senior, averages 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game with 24 three-pointers.

Three other Jackson County Central players average about nine points each to make them a very difficult team to defend..
