The weekend is finally here and with the unusually high temperatures we are experiencing for December, this is the perfect time to get out and have some fun before the chaos of the holidays sets in. I have a few things to cross off of my to do list over the weekend, but I'm making time for a few fun things as well. If you have some open spots in your schedule, here are some fun ideas for ways to fill them.

  • Get in the holiday spirit with "Twice the Cheer" at the Paradise Center for the Arts both Friday and Saturday night at 7:30PM. The show features two one-act plays, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
  • Saturday starting at 8AM at the Whistle Stop in Medford, Rep. Brian Daniels will be holding office hours and meeting with constituents.
  • Adopt a furry friend! The Safe Sanctuary will be holding a pet adoption event at Farmer Seed and Nursery on Saturday from 10AM to 2PM.
  • There will be free sleigh rides in downtown Faribault from noon to 3PM. Hop on and take a ride through the streets.
  • Faribault Park and Rec and The Village Family Theater are hosting a free movie at 1:30PM on Saturday. "Polar Express" will be being played, preregistration is preferred so they know how many to expect. Call (507) 334-2064 to register.
  • Rice County Historical Society is holding an Expansion Grand Opening from 2-4PM.
  • Sunday morning grab breakfast at the Faribault American Legion from 8AM to noon. The event is a fundraiser for the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall that will be visiting Faribault in 2016.
  • Sunday evening at 9PM, watch the Geminid Meteor Shower at the River Bend Nature Center.
