Tonight someone could win an estimated $500 million Powerball jackpot. This one has been gathering steam since November 4, the last time the Powerball was won, and has morphed into the sixth-largest windfall ever in North America and the largest since several people claimed the $564.1 million prize in February of last year. The chances of winning are one in 292.2 million. That's a pretty slim chance, but it hasn't stopped my wife and I from purchasing a few of our own shots at financial happiness. And of course every time the jackpot grows as large as it has we start talking about what we would do if we won. After paying off all our bills and our children's bills, we would probably do some traveling, purchase several hundred acres of land with a large woods, a small winding creek, some open prairie and a modest-sized house with a wrap-around porch, a small barn with a finished theater room in the loft and plenty of parking bays for a few of the collectible cars I've always wanted. Then some more traveling and who knows? With this Powerball win, the sky's the limit.
