One of the things I really enjoy about the Rice County Free Fair are all the free shows that they offer throughout the day for the whole run of this midsummer festival. Several of those free shows take place, near the kids rides area of the fair, on the Cannon Stage. With several food concession stands nearby and usually a light breeze blowing, it's the perfect place to sit down, relax and enjoy a good show like the Brodini Family Comedy/Magic Show, Tuey the Juggler or just listen to some good tunes doled out by mobile DJ Patty Anderson.

Yesterday they held a Karaoke contest on the Cannon Stage and several contestants showed up for a shot at that 1st Place trophy along with some Fair Bucks that they could spend at the fair. Power 96 announcer Andrew was hanging out in the Power 96 booth when his girlfriend, Emily Montonye, and a friend stopped by and on a whim she decided to enter the contest. She made it through the first round, which cut the contestants down to six, then through the next round, which left only three for the finals and went on to win the contest. Emily performed a Cher song and two Miranda Lambert songs. The song she sang in the finals was one she had to switch to at the last minute because the tune she had wanted to sing wasn't available. Congratulations Emily, on your Karaoke contest win, from Power 96!

Don't miss out on any of the fun events, food and rides today, the final day of the Rice County Free Fair in Faribault. By the way, bring the family out for Arm Band Day on the midway. Each person will get unlimited rides from 1-9PM for only $25.
