This winter hasn't been a particularly bad winter. Sure we've had a few days where the temperatures dipped below zero and we had to deal with some frigid windchill, and we've had a couple of snowstorms, but all in all it's been pretty mild. Unfortunately like all winters for me, it's gotten too long and a little boring. Luckily the various communities in our area usually have something fun going on to liven up winter and Waseca is no exception.

Today as part of their monthlong celebration known as the Waseca Sleigh and Cutter Festival (Jan. 27 to Feb. 26) they are hosting the Sleigh and Cutter Parade, which starts at noon at the Waseca County Fairgrounds and runs through downtown Waseca. In attendance as part of this year's parade will be several Waseca Sleigh and Cutter royalty and pageant winners, the Law Enforcement Memorial Association, the Jesse James Gang and more. There will even be a show just before the parade featuring the Cannon Old West Society and Elm Creek Cowboys.

While you're there, make sure to stroll by the Waseca Public Safety building and check out the chainsaw carved sculptures, which, according to their events schedule, were to be finished yesterday.

Today's other events include the 97th annual Sleigh and Cutter Curling Bonspiel on Clear Lake by the Boat House Grill and Bar with registration starting at 7:30AM, curling at 8AM. There's also the 26th annual Waseca Senior Citizens Pfeffer Card Tournament at the Waseca Senior Citizens Center at 10AM and wrap up the night with an evening of fun at the Waseca VFW.
