Christmas is gone, but here in Minnesota we still have a lot of winter left to get through. Anyone who knows me, knows that i don't like being cold and typically hibernate all winter long. Don't get me wrong, I think a fresh dusting of snow is beautiful, but I'm certainly more of a summer gal. But winter is long, and I'm determined not to let cabin fever get the best of me! I've compiled a list of some fun beat the winter blahs ideas:

  • Sledding
  • Snowball fights
  • Build a snowman
  • Build a snowfort
  • Hit a local skating rink for an afternoon
  • Try out broomball
  • Hit the slopes and downhill ski or snowboard
  • Find an outdoor hottub to warm up in with friends
  • Check out area trails on a snowmobile
  • Catch your dinner with some ice fishing
  • If you're brave grab your gear and try winter camping
  • Have a fun date and hold a winter picnic
  • Sit on your porch with a blanket, hot cocoa, and a good book
  • Get friends and build a big fire to make s'mores over
  • Rent some snowshoes and explore the RiverBend Nature Center
  • Try snowpainting! Put food coloring and water in bottles, find some snow and go crazy
  • Take a horse drawn sleigh ride
  • or chek out some fun winter festivals: Social Ice in Rochester, Bochfest in New Ulm, and the Winter Carnival in St. Paul

Now let's get out there and make the most of the cold weather months!
