Paradise Community Theatre of Faribault is opening the new Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein next weekend and cast members will join us today on AM Minnesota.

The show begins at 9:30AM, and if you can't listen then, go to our YouTube channel and watch the program at www.youtube.com/user/KDHLRadio.

Palmer Huff is directing this hilarious adaptation of the Mel Brooks film starring Gene Wilder.

A description on the Paradise Community Theatre website says, "It parodies the horror film genre, especially the 1931 Universal Pictures adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and it's 1939 sequel Son of Frankenstein."

The description also states, "Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of hunchbacked sidekick, Igor, and lab assistant, Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. Fun, fright and musical comedy take center stage."

I saw this play performed on Broadway in New York City when I visited there in 2009.

Even if you never saw the film you will enjoy the nonsensical humor of "Young Frankenstein."

If you did see the movie then many of the parts will be familiar to you.
