Since my beloved purple is mired at 0-2 and more than likely after today 0-3, I decided to take a trip down memory lane. It was 11 years ago today that Brett Favre launched a bullet to the endzone in the waning seconds of the 4th quarter and Greg Lewis who at the time made the catch of the year to down the San Francisco 49ers 27-24. Just watching the game-winning clip, a smile came across my face remembering the magical season that the "Ol Gun Slinger" brought fans of the Vikings in 2009. Well until the whole New Orleans game loss... As a Vikings fan, we know that you have to remember the good times, as we always seem to be the bridesmaid and never the bride in big games.

Let's check out that game-winning play/throw-and-catch to end the 49er game at the HHH Metrodome.

I can't remember what exactly I was doing on this Sunday, at the time I was working as a server at a Mexican Restaurant, so more than likely I was working, and sneaking a few minutes of the game at a time up at the bar.

Lewis was in single coverage and Favre, just zipped a bullet in a place that only Lewis, if anyone, was going to get it. As a Vikings fan, I think we all expected the worse as the ball flew threw the air. As Lewis makes the grab we all stared at this feet, did he stay in bounds? Did he hang on to the ball? It took a moment for me to realize that it was going to stand as a winning TD. For Favre it was just another Sunday, for Lewis I'm sure it's a memory he will always have.

As far as the play it seemed almost backyard football-esque.

But that was how Favre played, and for that regular season, it worked.
