U.S. News News and World Report recently released this year's list of the best high schools in the country, and there are 8 Southern Minnesota high schools that made the list! Overall in the state of Minnesota, there are 58 on the list!

In order to create this final list, they evaluated 20,500 high schools throughout the country.

20,500!!

That's a ton! So if you see one of our local high schools listed as the 2,362 best, for example, remember it's out of 20,500 others!

They "identified schools that best serve all students and assessed how prepared students are for college-level work." These schools were then ranked by gold, silver, and bronze medal rankings, gold meaning the students at these schools felt the most prepared for college.

In Minnesota, out of the 58 on the list, 7 received a gold and the remaining 51 received a silver.

When comparing state-by-state, U.S. News looked at how many gold and silver medals each state had. Minnesota ranked 26 in this category. The top states were Massachusets, California, and Maryland.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for! The list of Southern Minnesota's best high schools!
