This week's adoptable animal of the week is Denise the cat, who I'm told is a shy cat at first until she gets to know you, then she starts to open up and will offer to you plenty of affection. Denise has been at the Mower County Humane Society since 2016, through no fault of her own or the staff, it's just easy to overlook a shy cat when there are so many to often see at a humane society.

Our friend and volunteer at the Mower County Humane Society, Michaela Tews, had this to share about 5-year-old Denise:

She is a very sweet girl who is doing great here at MCHS. She is a little shy at first, but once she knows you, she is a typical, fun-loving girl. Denise does great with other cats at the shelter and is looking for a patient home to let her blossom in.

As with all adopted animals, it takes time for them to be comfortable in a new surrounding, and sometimes it takes some time if you have other animals in the home for them all to get along. I know when we adopted our three-legged cat a few years ago he didn't like our other pets at all at first. But as time went on, he began to tolerate them, and now we often find him sleeping curled up next to our other cat or cuddling up to our dog.

Denise can be adopted through the Mower County Humane Society for $50 with an approved application. You can find the application to adopt Denise here, and don't forget you have to have an approved application to come down and visit Denise and her friends at the Mower County Humane Society.
