Alcohol Believed To Contribute To Early Morning Rollover On I-35
Drivers on southbound I-35 in Rice County early this morning may have encountered a single-vehicle rollover just north of 265th St E, Walcott Twp in Rice County. The driver was transported by ground ambulance to Faribault's District One hospital with believed non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at 1:39 Sunday morning the 26-year-old driver Brian Edward Gates of Ankeny, Iowa was traveling southbound on I-35 in a 2006 Mercury Mariner when he lost control and went into the ditch, where the vehicle then rolled multiple times.
The report states that Gates was transported by ground ambulance to District One hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The report went on to state that "alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash."
Responding to the accident scene was the Rice County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, and North Memorial Ambulance.
