Another Threat of Severe Weather

Undated (KROC AM News) - Several rounds of thunderstorms are possible into Friday evening and there is another threat of severe weather and heavy rain, which poses a flooding risk due to the saturated grounds from this week’s earlier storms.

The National Weather Service also says there is a risk that some storms may produce damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.

Meanwhile, the cleanup continues in areas that were roughed up Wednesday. The National Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado caused widespread damage in the McGregor, Iowa area. It touched down 5 miles west of the town around 6 p.m. Wednesday. It was on the ground for more than 5 ½ miles and went through downtown McGregor and then over the nearby Mississippi River where it dissipated. The Weather says there were two minor injuries. The twister had winds of 110 mph and was about 400 yards wide. McGregor is across the river from Prairie du Chien, Wisc and about 40 miles from the Minnesota border.

Heavy rain led to widespread and damaging flooding in southwest Wisconsin, especially in an area from Nelson southward to La Crosse where rainfall totals were in excess of 7 inches in some areas. The town of  Arcadia was inundated with floodwater, leading to numerous rescues and evacuations.
