Author Bob Showers will be in Owatonna on Thursday to make a presentation on his book, The Twins at the Met. The historical society will host this at 7PM at the History Center on June 11.

Well before the Minnesota Twins played their home games outdoors at Target Field, they spent 21 seasons at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington. Minnesota sports author Bob Showers will talk about his book, The Twins at the Met, Thursday, June 11, at 7PM at the History Center, 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna. The event is hosted by the Steele County Historical Society.

Showers has conducted interviews with Twins players and staff to re-live the memorable moments, colorful characters and, yes, the unpredictable weather of early spring outdoor baseball. Comments in the book have come from the likes of Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Jim Katt, Bert Blyleven, Paul Molitor, Kent Hrbek, Tony Oliva, former owner Clark Griffith and many more.

The book also covers unusual stories such as a bomb scare and the visit by The Beatles to The Met.
