Faribault Bethlehem Academy made the long road trip to #3 Class A ranked Rushford-Peterson Wednesday night and held their own losing 19-6.

The Cardinals trailed 19-6 at the half.  It was 7-6 after the first quarter following BA sophmore Derrick Sando's dart for a 65 yard touchdown with 92 seconds to go in the first frame.  The two point run was unsuccessful.

It was scoreless until 1:43 to go in the first quarter when the Trojans scored on a 6 yard run and kicked the extra point.

Rushford-Peterson added a 23 yard touchdown pass with 9:34 to go in the first half and a 25 yard pass with 7:38 left.  The Cardinals blocked an extra point kick and the other attempt was unsuccesful.

Statistically the Trojans dominated with 336 total yards compared to 158.

Rushford-Peterson finished the game with 201 rushing and 135 passing yards while Bethlehem Academy accumulated 84 yards rushing and 74 yards passing.

Each team had one turnover during the game.

The Trojans had 18 first downs, Cardinals 9.

Third down conversions were 3/13 for BA and 6/14 for R-P.

Cardinals quarterback Elliott Viland was 6 of 17 for 74 yards with 1 interception.

Trojans quarterback Malachi Bunke hit 7 of 18 throws for 135 yards and two scores.

Sando finished with 66 yards on 10 carries.  Brady Strodtman was held to 14 yards on 7 runs.

Rushford-Peterson's leading rusher was Hadyn Kahoun with 136 yards on 20 attempts.  Bunke added 45 yards on 10 runs.

Cardinals Aiden Tobin finished the game with 2 catches for 50 yards, Charlie King had 2 receptions for 16 yards.

R-P receiver Tommy Ekern had 3 catches for 78 yards and two scores.

Defensively for BA Andrew Donahue was all over the field with 11.5 tackles, 8 solo.  Sando, Strodtman and Michael Crone added 4.5 tackles each.

Bethlehem Academy ended the regular season with a 6-2 record while Rushford-Peterson is 8-0.

The two teams are in Section 1A which has coaches vote for the bracket.

If they went by QRF the Cardinals would be the #2 seed but BA lost to Fillmore Central and the Falcons have a better overall record so one might assume the Cardinals will be the #3 seed.

If that is the case they would host Hayfield but Faribault high school will have a home game Tuesday so BA might be hunting for a nearby field or simply go to Hayfield like they did earlier this year.
