Billy Gibbons' solo sojourn to the 2015 Havana Jazz Festival will be commemorated in the upcoming documentary Billy Gibbons and the BFGs Go to Cuba.

Director Martin Guigui, who pulled double duty behind the cameras while playing piano for the BFGs, talked to Music Aficionado about the project, saying, "Once Billy got the invitation to play the jazz fest, we decided to make a movie of the trip. We follow him during the whole five-day trip. Through Billy's eyes, we get a look at the heart of Havana — the people, the culture. This is a place that was frozen in time."

"We were in high cotton from the get-go," Gibbons told Guitar Aficionado of the trip. "The room where we played was a big, wide-open space with walls covered by 45s, old vinyl LPs and album covers. They also had some posters on the walls — Joni Mitchell, Bob Marley, James Brown and a ZZ Top poster! When I saw that, I knew we were in the right place."

According to Music Aficionado's report, Billy Gibbons and the BFGs Go to Cuba is set to premiere with a theatrical screening in Los Angeles on Nov. 30, with DVD and Blu-ray releases to follow. Details for either release have yet to be announced, but in the meantime, fans of his work can look forward to a film that honors his musical legacy while capturing him at a historic career crossroads.

"The people there revere Billy," Guigui added of Gibbons' Cuban fans. "He's almost a mythical figure; people followed him around everywhere. Not unlike Castro, he has the beard, but unlike Castro, Billy represents rock 'n' roll and freedom."
